Bound in original brick red cloth with gilt lettering and hunting/fishing insignia and image of a teepee on front board. Boards edgeworn and scuffed, small area of dampstain visible on rear endpapers, abrasion to front free endpaper where a label was removed. Binding sound, text clean. Shields (1846-1925) wrote extensively on sporting topics under the pen-name Coquina before establishing Recreation: A Monthly Magazine Devoted to Everything the Name Implies in 1894. Between 1897 and 1902, he was head of the Campfire Club of America.
