Collectible - Acceptable. 1912, 1st UK, red cloth hardcovers with gilt, covers are edgeworn, corners and spine ends bumped, tear to spine head at rear cover, small dampstain to top of front and rear covers causing a pink stain to the red cloth, bookplate to front pastedown, there are 11 plates missing (torn out) and former owner has noted this in ink on the 'list of illustrations' page, o/w interior is clean and sound, no dust jacket.

London: Constable. Bound in red cloth, this hardcover First Edition has gilt lettering to front board and spine, and decorative flags and shield motif to front panel. XV/451pp with 34 B/W plates as called for, and index at end. Brigadier Funston was in the US army and witnessed wars in Cuba and the Philipines; lots of interesting technical detail of military affairs around 1900. Clean endpapers, good rag paper, wide margins. Corners slightly bumped, minor rubbing to edge of spine, otherwise VG (see photo) . Very Good. Hardback. First Edition. 1912.
