Boards are solid wit minor bump to tips. Printed from the Edition that was corrected by the author in 1867 and 1868. Name in blue ink to rear of front board, partial crack between front board and front endpaper and light age spots to fore-edge of text block. Light rub to tops and edges. This is however a solid copy with all illustrations by F. Walker and Marcus Stone intact. Not exlib and packed and sent with care.

Nice and clean pages with small ink marks and light shelf wear on the outer edges, small creases and ink marks on the edges of the pages, back cover for Little Dorrit has slightly split from the spine. Blue cloth bindings with "The [Dickens's signature] Edition" in gilt on front board, gilt titling on spine. Full page illustrated plates by Cruikshank, Leech, Phiz, and others (16 in the Christmas Books/Boz vol., 10 in three others, eight in the rest). All volumes in good condition. A few partial separations/gaps between signature, but bindings on the whole are firm and fully intact; gilt titling/decoration remains bright and bold; light to moderate amount of wear to edges of boards, some fraying of cloth at spine ends; very faint dust smudging to cloth, some very minor toning to spines. Though Hard Times is a well known part of the author's repertoire, Pictures From Italy may be less so. A travelogue written in 1846, it describes Dickens' tour of Genoa, Rome, and Naples with his family two years previously. What interests Dickens most is the colourful street life; on pp. 273-274 he witnesses a public beheading in Rome.
