Description:
New York: Frederick A. Stokes Company, 1899. First edition, 1899. Inscribed and signed by the author To Miss Husted with sincere regards, Broadalbin, Feb. 22nd, 1900. The name brings up a mystery concerning the identity of Miss Husted, particularly since the author's son, born Robert Edward Stuart Chambers, later changed his name to Robert Husted Chambers. There was a Husted family that lived near Chamber's family estate in Broadalbin, New York, but the mystery remains, to the best of our knowledge, unsolved. Dark green cloth printed in gilt with a butterfly repeating design on the front cover, 329 pages, no dustjacket. Very good condition with light edge rubbing, good hinges, firm text block, foxing to endpapers and a couple of pinholes to the front joint, pages clean with no other names or markings.. Inscribed By the Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
