It presents well in cellophane. The back board of the book has mild creasing and on the front board the bottom corner is creased. The spine of the book has lovely gold gilt. The Birkenhead was sunk in 1852 with a cargo of approximately three tons of gold bullion on board. An attemp was made to salvage this in 1854, and in 1985 a salvage company began excavating the wreck.
