Ludwig Traube, 1861 – 1907, was a paleographer and held the first chair of Medieval Latin in Germany, at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich. Traube studied at the universities of Munich and Greifswald. In 1883 he finished his Ph.D. He finished his Habilitation in classical and medieval philology in 1888 with a part of his book on Carolingian poetry. He became a professor in Munich in 1904. The Henry Bradshaw Society is a British-based learned society "founded in the Year of Our Lord 1890 for the editing of Rare Liturgical Texts".
