California: Twentynine Palms, 1971. First Thus. Printed coated wrappers. Very Good. Henry R. and Beverly Mockel. 16mo. Pp. 314. Illustrated throughout with color and black & white drawings of plants by Henry R. and Beverly Mockel. One of an edition limited to 5000 copies. Bound in wraps with green lettering and illustration printed on cover and green lettering printed on spine. Some stains on cover; spine a touch wrinkled as a result of binding process, decal shadow on front cover, else clean. Signed by the authors on half-title. Henry Mockel, who plumbed the natural world of Joshua Tree, among other special places, for his botanical art, never worked from specimens brought to his studio: "I can't evince any enthusiasm over a cadaver." Uncommon in signed state.
