About This Item

Paris: J. Barbou, 1786. Half-Leather. Fair. TOME PREMIER TOUT SEULE. Texte français en regard du texte latin. Relié plein cuir marron. Titre sur le dos à 5 nerfs. Tranches poivrées rouges. [12] + 539 + [1] pages. 10.5 x 17,5 x 3,5 cm. Leather boards are heavily worn and rubbed through on corners, gutters are cracked inside and out and the boards are still attached thanks only to the binding threads running through 5 raised bands. Name plate and engraved encircled volume number "1" on spine are legible but weathered. Top page edges blackened by dust. The square and tight interior text block remains largely pristine despite in some parts faintly yellowing in margins. Some foxing to about 20% of text and even then it is just one or two spots per page. The endpapers and first few and last pages have discoloration from contact with the aging glue used to paste in the endpapers. POS in pencil inside front board with no other markings noted.
