The dust jacket has a tear on the top of the front cover and is now protected with a permanent clearcover. The interior is in very good condition. The outside text block shows some yellowing.; The wares, history and techniques of the great English porcelain factories of the 18th century are here described by a llife-long collector and student of ceramics, Chapiers are devoted to scienfific aids to attribution, including the latest developments in the use of the ultra violet lamp, and to expertise. The special characteristics, style and texture of the products of this golden age of English porcelain manufacture are discussed with authority and in detail. There is a special chapter on the enigmatic factory "X". The dramatis persona of the industy - Sprimont, Duesbury, Little, Frye, etc. - are fully considered, and there are many short biographies of the lesser painters, craftsmen, and modellers. There are over 250 illustrations, and the appendices include the Chelsea Catalogue of 1756 reprinted in full, and analysis of the illustrations, and index to the porcelain marks used in the book and many other notes of interest to the collector..
