Edinburgh: Oliver And Boyd, 1951. First Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Poor. FIRST PRINTING of the First Edition. Original green cloth with gilt lettering spine. The book is in nice condition with a tiny bit of rubbing to corner tips and spine corners, clean, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, faint small spot on title page (see photo), tight binding, no foxing. The dust jacket is in very worn, poor condition (see photo). The book measures 234m tall x 163mm, and has 271 pages, 33 b/w photos, 12 sketch maps, index. Author describes main Alpine areas of the Swiss, Italian, & Austrian Alps. Gives in detail hiking routes around each group & includes higher routes above snowline for moderate climbers. Descriptions of topography, geography, etc. Much practical information. The photos are outstanding, comparable to those by Roch.
