About This Item
The Eastern Buddhist, 1935. A scarce offprint from The Eastern Buddhist, Vol. VII, No. 1 of Daisetz Suzuki's essay on Zen and its relation to Japan's love of nature. A scarce and potentially fragile item in printed salmon color wrappers with neat tape repair to spine, now in a clear protective cover. Dr. Jon Covell's copy with her stamp on the front cover and verso of last page. Covel wrote extensively on Japanese and Korean culture and art including the book " Zen at Daitoku-ji." Jon Carter Covell was the first Westerner to obtain a doctorate in Oriental art history, which she completed at Columbia University. She went on to become Professor of Japanese and Korean Art History at the University of Hawaii. A nice association copy. . Soft Cover. Good.
