This is the first completely documented life of Isaac Hecker who was born in NYC in 1819 and at an early age this German-American knew God had special work for him. He eventually was drawn to the Catholic Church and become a priest although later he joined the Redemptorist Congregation and cared for German-speaking Catholics. In 1858 after a meeting with Pope Pius IX he returned to the US to join the Paulist Fathers with the intention of converting America to Catholicism as he felt that Americans were looking for the truth and that once he showed them the Church in it true form that they would embrace it. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.
