An ex-library, first edition of the University of Oklahoma Press's entry in their The Western Frontier Library series. A diary kept by Montana hero John X. Beidler (1831-1890) edited by Helen Fitzgerald Sanders with assistance from William H. Bertsche, Jr. Known simply as "X", Beidler had a knack for tracking down and arresting killers and other outlaws and bringing them to justice in the mostly lawless days of the Montana Territory of the 1860s. With five black & white illustrations and a foreword by A. B. Guthrie, Jr. --- In full red marble-look paper-covered boards with spine titling in gilt on black block. Volume has no jacket but jacket flaps have been clipped and pasted to a flyleaf. --- Evidence of prior ownership by public library consists of rubberstampings, traces of once-pasted library materials, tape residues and spine serial number. Also with prior owner's signature and small tears to paper at head of spine. Despite damages, the book is intact and fully readable.; Ex-Library; 12mo - 7 to 7-1/2 in. tall; xvii, 165 pages .
