About This Item
Norwalk, CT: The Easton Press, 1988. Hardcover. As New. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Vincent DiFate. Fine; literally As New. See description and scans. Norwalk, CT: The Easton Press, 1988. The World of A, by A.E. van Vogt. The leather-bound Collector's Edition, by Easton. Octavo, illustrated leather-bound boards, gilt imprinting on front and back covers and spine (scan), All Edges Gilt, design endpapers, 246 pp. Color frontispiece and interior black and white chapter-head illustrations are by Vincent DiFate. Pristine; there are no flaws in this piece. See scanned images. First Edition Thus; the true first edition was serialized in 1945 in Astounding Science Fiction, then first published as a novel in 1948 by Simon and Schuster. A rollicking space opera from van Vogt, with, as always, some advanced sci-fi notions for its time and van Vogt's unique quirky style. Thought provoking stuff in the Golden Era without being indigestible to a wide audience. Fun in several ways. Strong example to read, if you choose - or put it in your collection and get one of the many reprint paperbacks to read it. Ships in stout protection, of course. L92
