Engraved frontispiece portrait by William Faithorne, engraved title page (dated "1676"), [10], 553 pp. 1 vols. Folio. Contemporary calf, binding worn and scuffed, spine tips chipped and joints split, front cover off -- internally a very attractive copy, with an early owner's inscription on flyleaf "Rich Matthew / Fisherton Anger / Wilts.. Later edition. Engraved frontispiece portrait by William Faithorne, engraved title page (dated "1676"), [10], 553 pp. 1 vols. Folio. Hooker's (1554? - 1600) classic, of which five books of "The Laws of Ecclesiastical Politie" appeared in his lifetime, the (probably spurious) sixth and eighth books in 1648, and the seventh in Gauden's edition of 1662. The whole was reissued with Walton's Life in 1666, 1676, as well as here, and frequently thereafter. Wing (2nd ed.) H2633
