This is Volume Three only [of an original ten volumes], "To Which are Added, Now First Published, Some Original Letters, with Additional Observations, and Memoirs of the Life of the Author. By the Rev. William Lisle Bowles, A.M. Prenendary of Salisbury, and Chaplain to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales." The contents of this volume include Pope's famed "Essay on Man in Four Epistles," "Moral Essays," and "Letter to a Noble Lord." A large and heavy octavo in a full leather binding, ruled on the covers in gilt. Five raised bands on the spine, with decorations and titling in gilt. Clean text, lightly toned. Frontis engraving of Pope;vi, 439 pages. Marbled endpapers; speckled page ends; armorial bookplate on the front paste-down. Rubbed at the margins; two chips on the spie, at head and foot. While not disbound, the front cover is tender and barely hanging on. [Please note the condition issues; Quercus must offer this as a Binding Copy, in need of repair or restoration.]. First Thus. Full-Leather. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
