The Wonders of Mechanical Ingenuity, Archibald Williams. Published by Seeley & Co. Ltd., London, 1910. 8vo up to 9½" tall. 160 pages plus 15 pgs. of publisher's ads. Red pictorial board with black and gilt illustration and titles front and spine. Contains photographic plates. In very good condition with light board wear; small mailing label free endpaper; tiny bookseller label rear pastedown (Thompson Stationer Company, Vancouver); a few thumb marks; lightly shaken; all pages firmly secured.
Archibald Williams (1871-1934) was a highly competent technical journalist and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. He wrote several very popular books for boys. The Wonders of Mechanical Ingenuity (1910) deals with the development of mechanism and manufacture and includes a wide array of subject areas such as watches and chronometers, calculating machines, combustion engines, motor-cars and motor-boats.
