Hardcover. xvi, 283p., hardbound first American edition, tan-papered boards with red cloth backstrip gilt-titled and decorated, and enclosed in the glossy dust jacket that furnishes the sole illustration, an author portrait in vignette. Minai has inscribed and signed the front free endpaper (year of publication, to -----, "with deep gratitude and best wishes". A very nice copy, with a little cover-soil and a misfolded dust jacket flap. Minai has the background for this analysis, having been "born in Japan, raised in Turkey and many other countries of the Middle East, and educated at the Sorbonne and at UC Berkeley
