About This Item

London: John Hamilton Limited. Very Good. N.D.. Hardcover. Green cloth covered hardback with black lettering to spine. Some shelf wear in accordance with age but generally very good. No inscriptions. These are rare issues of a quarterly journal all bound together. In the opening section no dates are shown, but probably circa summer 1934. Experts will be aware of the issue dates, here is an example taken from the first list of Contents in the book, All's Fair Captain W E Johns a modern story p5; Time on the Board Arch. Whitehouse A Ward Story p.13; Flying Section 17 Haupt Heydemarck, Translated from the German by Claud W Sykes, Captain Heydemarck. German Ace, tells of his experiences in command of German Flying Section 17 during the war p 29; The World on the Wing. Captain W E Johns, How the aeroplane conquered space p.90; From an Observer's Log. Major James McCudden V. C. The experiences of this well-known British pilot while acting as an observer in the early days of his career p 95; Dog-Fight Danny, Arch. Whitehouse, A War Story, p.102; OLd Soldiers Never Die. Captain W E Johns, A modern flying story p 116; Spy Flying "Vigilant" ("pseud. For Claude W. Sykes) , Author of German War Birds. A most interesting article on this fascinating subject. P 120. 1-128 pages. This is followed by a second issue that has a clear title page and the contents stating Vol. 1 No. 2, Autumn 1934, full contents with articles by W E Johns etc, 1-128 pages. After this comes Vol. 1 Number 3 Winter 1935, 1-1238 pages, again with full contents including another article by W E Johns, followed by Vol.1 No.4, Spring 1935, 1-112 pages. The contents is generally very good even though the pages are foxed and brown . Probably owing to the type of paper used, the text is set-out in two columns, Each issue has several fascinating stories and articles, every issue contains work by W E Johns, there are illustrations throughout in black and white. A feast of material for aviation enthusiasts. Very good tight binding text fully readable. Something to be enjoyed. Heavy book. ; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall .
