Norman: University of Oklahoma Press. Very Good. 1978. Softcover. 0806114843 . A softcover reprint edition presenting the story of the 19th century Whoop-Up Trail and surrounding country. The wagon road connected Fort Benton in north-central Montana and Fort Macleod in present-day Alberta. It was a key means by which goods were transported into Canada, until railroads made it obsolete. With numerous drawings by Charles M. Russell, a map and two sections of plates bearing black & white photos of people and scenes. This work originally published by University of Minnesota Press in 1955. --- In red & yellow wraps with Russell image of a gunfight to front cover. --- With prior owner's signature to title page and lightly sunned spine, else an intact, sound copy.; Octavo - 8 to 9 in. tall; xix, 348 pages .
