About This Item
(The Hague: Van Goor Zonen, 1962). 4to; original rexine over boards; laminated pictorial dustwrapper; pp. 256; plates. Dustwrapper a little edgeworn, with earlier owner's tape repairs to reverse. Very good condition. "This catalogue is being published at 'the very last moment'. The possessors of the Netherlands' large trousseaus of twenty-five years ago are slowly dying out. Do their heirs know what they will find in the huge cupboards which for long years have been aired and cleaned? Probably not. ... Every object of historical value which has come down to us is worthy of preservation. That is why we have our musea and our private collections. Our advanced technique of electric lighting makes it possible to give a good impression of the beauty of this apparently unspectacular material. May this catalogue contribute to the preservation of our inheritance." .
