New York: Harper & Row, 1963. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Good Plus. Maurice Sendak. Unpaginated, illustrated. Oblong (9.25"x10"). First edition with "Library of Congress catalog card number 63-21253" on title page, in circa 1970 dust jacket with "SB-06.." visible on upper front clipped flap, and gold Caldecott Medal that is crimped along one side on front panel. Dust jacket has several short closed edge tears, mild creasing and shelf soil to edges; book shows only minor signs of wear, clean and tight boards and interior.
Synopsis
Where the Wild Things Are is a 1963 children's picture book by American writer and illustrator Maurice Sendak, originally published by Harper & Row. The book has been adapted into other media several times, including an animated short, a 1980 opera, and, in 2009, a live-action feature film adaptation. According to HarperCollins, the book has sold over 19 million copies worldwide as of 2008.
