(Bruchmann, Munich; 1938). Quarto. 204 pages, profusely illustrated with 32 photographic plates. 8 pages of full color plates.. Pinnow's book on the 1000 years of German History became a reminder in the early days of Hitler of the phrase Thousand Year Reich. Most historians did not survive the Nazi regime but Pinnow adapted and wrote on behalf of the greater Germany and I.G. Farbenindustrie which after the Nazi takeover in 1933 became a major supplier for the German war effort. Throughout that decade it purged itself of its Jewish employees; the remainder left in 1938 Described as "the most notorious German industrial concern during the Third Reich", IG Farben relied in the 1940s on slave labour from concentration camps, including 30,000 from Auschwitz. One of its subsidiaries supplied the poison gas, Zyklon B, that killed over one million people in gas chambers during the Holocaust. A very good copy bound in red cloth lettered and decorated in gilt, spine lettering gilt.
