Charleston, MA, 1849. Light wear.. A 1 3/4" in diameter watch paper presented by A. Stowell Jun'r Watch and Clock, Gold & Silver Lever & Lepine Watches, Jewelry, Spectacles & Silver Ware. A printed watch paper with calligraphy decoration and the word "Maker" at center. On the reverse is what appears to be a receipt and reads "6529 2-12-29 Atticus Brown $1,50" Watch papers are round decorative papers placed between the inner and outer case of a pocket watch to protect its inner workings. They also served as advertisements for watchmakers as they often included names and addresses along with elaborate designs.
