o Possibly James Douglas Stoddart Douglas (1793–1875), a British soldier and Conservative Party politician. He served in the Royal Navy, promoted to Lieutenant in 1815 on HMS Doris, under Captain Robert O'Brien, then on the East India station. He became a Lieutenant in the Yeomanry Cavalry. He was elected at in 1841 as an MP for the borough of Rochester. Motto: SAPIENTIA ET VERITAS
