About This Item
London: Eyre & Spottiswoode, 1957. Voss was published by Eyre & Spottiswood in 1957, and it's based upon the life of the nineteenth-century Prussian explorer Ludwig Leichhardt who disappeared whilst on an expedition into the Australian outback. Symbolism is heavily used in Voss, and is primarily religious. Voss is often compared to Christ. Voss visits the desert, leads men, and cures the sick. He also meets with the character Laura in garden which is comparable to the Garden of Eden.
