New York: Random House, 1951. First Edition. First printing Near fine in tan cloth covered boards with a gilt on black title block on the spine. An octavo of 8 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches with a dampness stain on the upper edge of the spine and the upper edges of the front and rear boards In a very good+, unclipped dust jacket with shallow 1/8 inch deep chips at the upper and lower ends of the spine area and two shallow chips with related small closed tears at the lower edge of the front panel. This is the first state of the first edition which can be identified by mention of the play South Pacific on the rear flap of the dust jacket. All other states fail to mention this famous musical adaptation of Michener's earlier work. 338 pages of text.
