London: Bradbury & Evans, 1858. This is a Very Good (Plus) copy of the First Edition with all points of issue. Two volumes in a very attractive binding: red cloth boards with red leather spine and tips; titled in gilt on the spine, with decorations and date (1858). Clean text; 382 pages and 376 pages. Marbled edges and endpapers. Profusely illustrated by the author. Volume One has some penciled notes in Chapter 41. Although the textblock is unfoxed, two of the plates (opposite 85 & 96) are heavily browned. Volume Two has a cracked front gutter but is holding well. Two illustrations (opposite 6 and 115) have offset. Volumes have mild rubbing to the tips and the margins of the spine. These remain attractive books that present quite well.. First Edition. Half-Leather. Very Good (Plus)/No Jacket. Illus. by W.M. Thackary. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
