London: Collins Clear-Type Press 890 pp, 16mo (6 1/8" H), thin burgundy leather over card covers/spine - gold lettering and decoration on spine, top edge gilt - in slipcase. Burgundy endpapers, sepiatone illustrations, including frontispiece, decorated title page. In this sequel to "Henry Esmond", Henry's twin grandsons find themselves on opposing sides of the American War of Independence. Light separation between two page gatherings at pages 256/257 - pages holding firmly, very small crease at top corner of pages 1 to 25, minor rubbing on coloured endpapers, very light browning to fore-edge and bottom of text block, light edge wear, slight fading to spine colour, three faint creases down spine. Slipcase has light to moderate edge wear - heavier at corners, some small splits at edges.. Full-Leather. Good+. Illus. by Harold Piffard..
