About This Item
This a vintage publicity photo, not a reproduction.
The German-born American movie star Marlene Dietrich first appeared in Josef von Sternberg's "The Blue Angel" before Paramount signed her to perform in Hollywood productions, including several directed by von Strernberg. Her glamorous and exotic looks brought her fame and she became one of the highest paid actresses of her time. Dietrich assisted French and German refugees during the war, providing housing, financial aid and assisted them in gaining American citizenship.
