London: W. Miller, 1810. [4], 86pp, plates. Original marbled paper over boards. Later reback, with new paper label to spine, corners worn, edges bumped and chipped, paper covering boards rubbed, inner joints renewed, front free endpaper creased and spotted with some light foxing to text, plates clean. Housed in a modern cloth drop back box with title label to spine, the box is lightly soiled and has splits to foot of spine. Complete with forty fine coloured aquatints some watermarked 1813, originally issued in parts, and also with the text in French for the French market (cf. Tooley). With attractive views of Versaille and its fountains and gardens, but perhaps the most interesting are the Parisian views, which are inspired by Piranesi, with eight views of bridges and a further seven views from beneath bridges, resulting in unusual and dramatic views of the French capital. Tooley 342 (with French text); Thomson 542; Lowndes 1653; Abbey Travel 103. First Edition. Hardback. Good+. Illus. by Nattes, J.C.. Folio.
