About This Item
New York: Random House, 1938. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Illustrated by Edward Shenton. Very Good in a Very Good jacket, unclipped ($2.50), generally toned, a few small chips at the edges and corners. Grey cloth with black and red ink lettering and decorations. The chronological predecessor to Sartoris, a novel set in Faulkner's Yoknapatawpha County. Originally published as short stories in various magazines in the 1930s. As could be said about many of Faulkner's novels, The Unvanquished is the story of Southern characters who "survive the war by many years, but never escape its influence.
