Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for former owner name on FFFP and remainder marks on text block top and bottom. Book Condition: VG+; bumped front lower tip; slight shelf-wear to bottom boards. DJ: VG+; slight bumping and rubbing. Black boards with black overlay on spine with bright gold lettering on spine. 279 pp. In 1913 and amateur fossil hunter found in a gravel pit in England parts of the skull of and entirely new species of pre-human; the Piltdown Man: the missing link. Controversy abounded until 1953 when it was labeled and ingenious forgery. The creator was never found until now when the author tells the story of one of history's greatest frauds. A clean and presentable copy.
