About This Item
Madison: University of Wisconsin Press, 1974. Substantial history of this substantial university, largely focusing on politics & administration, rather than mere "rah-rah boosterism". Complete set in uniform bindings & jackets, INSCRIBED in Volume III by Cronon & Jenkins, authors of the second two volumes. Volumes one & two, first published in 1949 to commemorate the centenary of the school's founding, were reprinted with a new design in 1974 to celebrate the 125th anniversary; they were joined by two continuing volumes in 1994 & 1999, bringing the history up to the explosive (literally) student protests and system consolidation of the 1960s & '70s. ISBNs of volumes 3 & 4 are 0299144305 & 0299162907. Four stout volumes, hardcovers in jacket, as pictured.
