Jacket design by Bill English. Jacket has light rubbing with one 1/2" tear to front near spine and tiny tear to top flap. Age toning to inside of jacket. Light wear to boards with edges lightly browned. New York Times review of the book from May 7, 1963 laid in to front which has caused a light tanned mark to front free endpaper. Clean and unmarked.
Synopsis
Iris Murdoch was born in Dublin in 1919 of Anglo-Irish parents. She is the author of 26 novels and several works of philosophy. Among her many honours and awards are the CBE, the DBE, the James Tait Black Memorial Prize, the Whitbread Literary Award and the Booker Prize. She died in 1999.
