About This Item

Portsmouth: Gale & Polden, Ltd, 1905. Pamphlet. [34]p., b&w photography on glazed alkaline paperstock, softbound in 10x7 inch stapled cardstock wraps. A number of plates have been colorized, several (the friendly boxing match, sailors fiddling with electric lights) very effective; most views however are side-views of ships of the line. Plus local ads interspersed with the battlewagon pix. The single sole map is a centerfold doublespread showing how ships will deploy at the Royal Review (H.M. the King to be re-viewing three days only). Staples are badly rusted with migration, and centerfold map is detached (luckily, no extra wear). Covers are edgeworn with much crimping. A fair to good copy, with no soil, no ownerships nor any other markings. Laid in, find a clipping on alkaline stock, shows an unknown ship.
