About This Item
Paris: Librairie Hachette, 1924. Decorated Cloth. Very Good. 7" x 4 3/4. Illustrations. Paris: Librairie Hachette, 1924. Premiere & Deuxieme Parties [both parts, two volumes]. Barbant / Meyer Illustrations. Later printing of Hachette's popular "Collection Hetzel" edition. Text in French. 7" x 4 3/4", 302 pp. (premiere partie), 312 pp. (deuxieme partie). Red cloth, Hachette's rather enchanting gilt and black designs and lettering on cover and spine, rear cover with blindstamped design. Some fading, but still reasonably bright as this issue goes; a bit more fading at spine. Minor wear at spine ends, bit of corner bumping. See scans. Nice export stamps tipped in (both volumes) by Hachette, for a bit of ephemera. About Very Good. The story of a teenaged boy who takes mastery of a ship in an emergency. Verne earned later commendations for a more-or-less brutally 20/20 description of of the African slave trade at a time when such things were often given short - and inaccurate - shrift in literature. Nice, collectible illustrated edition from among the oceans of editions of Verne titles. Please review scans. l48n
