About This Item
N.p.: N.p., 1936. Two vintage black-and-white photographs of publisher Rob Wagner and director Frank Capra on KFWB radio in 1936. One photograph shows Wagner and Capra with KFWB executives Harry Maizlish and Bob White in the background. Both photographs with annotations in manuscript ink and pencil on the versos.
KFWB first signed on the air in 1925, founded by Warner Brothers co-founder Sam Warner. In 1950, the station was sold to Maizlish, the longtime general manager, and the studios were moved off the Warner lot to join Maizlish's FM station, KFMV, on Hollywood Boulevard.
Although he enjoyed a lengthy career as a director, screenwriter, and magazine writer, Rob L. Wagner is best remembered today as the editor and publisher of "Script," a left-leaning, weekly literary film magazine published in Beverly Hills between 1929 and 1949. Wagner also hosted a short-lived weekly radio broadcast on KFWB in 1936.
Approximately 10 x 8 inches. One photograph Near Fine, the other photograph Very Good, with a horizontal crease affecting the bottom portion of the photograph.
