About This Item
New York: Crown Publishers, 1978. Apparent First. Hardcover. Very Good +/very good -. Marie Angel. Unpaginated; small HC; dark green boards, pictorial DJ. DJ has a couple of small tears, sticker residue in two places, unclipped, otherwise clean. Book itself is in very nice clean condition, no marks, minimal wear. James Dickey's poem, inspired by his grandson Tucky, is summarized as "A child hunts the animals of the world with a pop-gun and the snare of his imagination." Beautifully illustrated and rendered by artist and calligrapher Marie Angel, with exquisitely detailed naturalistic watercolours of the animals. Not a child's book, although some parents and children might enjoy it together.
