A history of mountaineering on Mount Everest, from its naming by the British in the mid 19th century, to the British attempts to reach the summit in the 1920s, to the successful summiting by Hillary and Tenzing in 1953. The book seems to have been written for younger readers or young adult readers, but is still a readable account for the adult reader. With illustrations by F. Stocks May.
