New York: The Heritage Press, 1963. This is a Fine copy of the First Edition Thus, a typically attractive production from the Heritage press. Blue cloth binding with titling on the spine in red, black, and gilt. The translation is the one by Benjamin Jowett; Preface by Huntington Cairns; and with the wonderful illustrations of Hans Erni. Clean text; xii, 275 pages. Very bright and fresh. There is no dustjacket. Slipcased in red cardstock; the sase has bumps and has split along the top edge. Thankfully, the slipcase took all the damage and the book was spared. A large, heavy book; postage at exact cost.. First Thus. Hard Cover. Fine/Very Good. Illus. by Hans Erni. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
Synopsis
THE TRIAL AND DEATH OF SOCRATES is a compilation four dialogues: the "Euthyphro," the "Apology," "Crito," and the "Phaedo". These four dialogues convey the story - and philosophical debate - that surrounded Socates' trial and death.
