New York: Doubleday, Doran & Company, Inc., 1939 Dark green cloth; gilt spine decoration and lettering.Reprint; copyright 1921. Short stories, including "Rain," "Red, "The Pool," and "The Fall of Edward Barnard." "Immortal Tales of the South Seas by the modern De Maupassant" is the jacket blurb. Light rubbing to cover extremities. The name "Perkins" in bold red colored pencil at upper inside front cover. Otherwise clean, tight, and unworn in a damaged dust jacket with a Y-shaped scrape/tear to front panel and irregular 4" tear below author's photo on rear panel. General edgewear and scuffing to rest of jacket, although it is intact and now protected by mylar.
