Contemporary 3/4 polished blind- ruled black calf and marbled boards, elaborate gilt spine, all edges marbled. Boards lightly rubbed, very small amount of faint scattered foxing, else a very good or better copy. HOWES D-612. One of the classics of early American travel literature. "It is an astonishingly varied collection of descriptions of natural scenery, agricultural, political, religious, and social conditions, including historical, biographical, and statistical information, and is interlarded with shrewd practical comments"--DAB.
