Reviews
On Mar 20 2019, a reader said:
Don't turn to O'Flaherty for a glowing recommendation on the finest tourist sights in Ireland. Rather, in this little tome, O'Flaherty guides the visitors through the intricacies involved in getting to know the Irish people--at least the Irishry of the early 20th century. He has scant praise for what he lists as the three major institutions that control the hearts and minds of the inhabitants of his island, the three P's: Priests, Politicians, and Publicans. Is it humor touched with gall or gall touched with humor? Either way, "A Tourist's Guide to Ireland" proves a worthwhile read for the connoisseur of Irish social history.
