About This Item
London: Weidenfeld and Nicolson, 1994. SIGNED BY JAYNE TORVILL AND CHRISTOPHER DEAN on bookplate affixed to front endpaper. Letter enclosing the book and confirming the 'signed copy' included. A Fine unmarked copy. Dustjacket has a small closed tear to back and a little wear to edges. A large format volume of 120 pages. No other sporting personalities in recent history have captured the spirit of an international public more than Torvill and Dean. From their modest beginnings in Nottingham, the couple have elevated dance to a new level of excitement and artistic interpretation. With three consecutive World Championships starting in 1981, they astonished the world in 1984 with the triple crown of European, World and Olympic titles. After pursuing individual personal and professional goals, they reunited as amateurs to win the the British Championships with straight sixes in January 1994, and after their breathtaking triumph at the European Championships in Copenhagen, they went on to win the Bronze Medal at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway - ten years after they had seized the Gold in Sarajevo. The stunning photographs in this all colour book celebrate the successes of Torvill and Dean and the joy they have brought to people around the world. Vibrant images taken by professional photographer and close follower of the team Bob Martin record their most precious moments. Neil Wilson, a sports journalist who has covered every Olympics since 1972, encapsulates in words the magic of their career. **** A LARGE HEAVY VOLUME OF 1.00 KILO UNPACKED WEIGHT WHICH MAY REQUIRE ADDITIONAL SHIPPING COST **** **** A VERY SCARCE SIGNED COPY **** L.
