About This Item

New York: Frederick A. Stokes Company, 1922. The First Printing of Watchers of the Sky, although complete in itself, is also the first part of a trilogy of books known as The Torch-Bearers. The subject matter deals with scientists in history, such as Copenicus, Galileo, and Newton, whose great discoveries revolutionized the world of thought and changed the lives of mankind forever. The book is in Very Good+ condition, with the rare, existent, price-unclipped dust jacket, in Good- condition. (Click on photo.) This clean, handsome book is bound in black cloth with a pastedown illustration by famed American artist and illustrator, Spencer Baird Nichols. The book has light edgewear at corner and spine tips, and the boards are slightly cocked. The book is tightly bound, with the address stamp of a former owner on the front free endpaper. The text pages are clean and bright throughout. The dust jacket has chipping, mainly at the spine tips and front panel, exactly as shown in photo. I've placed the dust jacket into a Brodart protective sleeve. The book measures 5 3/4 by 8 1/8 inches and includes 281 pages. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good+/Good-. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
