New York, New York, U.S.A.: Triangle Books, 1938. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. VG-/VG-. The author's very first book featuring "the old maid who has become one of fiction's best-loved characters"--Tish (Letitia Carberry)--"the magnificent, the indomitable, the perennial spinster" & sleuth. These books served as the basis for the MGM film series starring Marjorie Main in the title role. Orig. published in a serialized format, 1912-1916, this is the First Triangle Books Edition, First Printing, from June 1938in 372 pages. Hardcover small 8vo has blue cloth-covered boards lettered in black to front & spine. Condition is VG-: very clean inside, binding strong & straight, hinges secure, pages significantly tanned, commensurate with paper quality of the era, but completely unmarked; most have a very small dampstain to outer-upper corners. Exterior boards show some small stained areas (large one to front in the same upper-outer corner as page dampstain); mild rubbing extremities, slightly bumped corners. The unclipped DJ is VG-: missing a strip of paper at head of spine, else colorful with very minor edgewear & slight chipping at heel of spine & corners; nicely protected in nonreflective mylar cover.
