Hardcover. 230p., original green decorated cloth, frontispiece portrait of Joel Chandler Harris, illus., first edition, spine lettering slightly faded, light edge wear and fraying, some internal handling wear, else very good condition. Children's book by Bloor, then a member of the Socialist Labor Party. In her long life she was also a suffragist, member of the Socialist Party, and a well known activist in the Communist Party, USA. The book contains numerous biographies of authors including Louisa Alcott, Charles Dickens, Grimm Brothers, Joel Chandler Harris, Rudyard Kipling, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Mark Twain, Frances Willard and others.
