Arthur Cadman was an expert on British deer and wildfowl, and the author of such books as Tales of a Wildfowler (1957), Shouldergunning for Duck (1963), and Dawn, Dusk and Deer (1966). Sir Peter Markham Scott, CH, CBE, DSC & Bar, FRS, FZS (14 September 1909 - 29 August 1989) was a British ornithologist, conservationist, painter, naval officer, broadcaster and sportsman. The only child of Antarctic explorer Robert Falcon Scott, he took an interest in observing and shooting wildfowl at a young age and later took to their breeding. He established the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust in Slimbridge in 1946 and helped found the World Wide Fund for Nature, the logo of which he designed. He was part of the UK team for the 1936 Summer Olympics and won a bronze medal in the sailing event. The author is one of the most respected authorities on both wildfowling and row stalking, with a multitude of articles in many sporting periodicals and books to his credit. Among the latter are "Shouldergunning for Duck" and "Goose Shooting", both published in 1963, and "A Guide to Roughshooting" was published in 1974. This is Arthur Cadman's well-thought of account of his long career in pursuit of goose, duck and waders. Cadman was an ornithologist and enthusiastic wildfowler. He spent 25 years as an officer of the Forestry Commission, and the last 10 years of his career were spent in charge of the New Forest and forests on the Isle of Wright. Here he relates the extensive time he spent in marshes and mud flats pursuing ducks and geese. Well-written and marvelously illustrated by Sir Peter Scott.
