About This Item

Garden City, NY: Doubleday & Company, Inc, 1974. First Edition. First? Printing. good, good. 24 cm, 412, illus. with 32 pages of plates, appendices, index, front DJ flap price clipped, DJ somewhat soiled. Inscribed by the author. Small tear to front DJ. Autobiography of a President's son, from childhood, on to West Point (from which he graduated on D-Day), and then to a political and diplomatic career whose privileged character is frankly acknowledged by the unassuming Eisenhower. This is also an inside, predictably uncritical look at the Eisenhower years and White House personae, but the figure who looms most imposingly throughout the story is of course Ike himself.
